The story
My artistic journey began over a decade ago, initially rooted in making and selling semi-precious stone jewelry during my college days. After studying gemology, diamond grading, and jewelry design, jewelry became my full-time pursuit before a workshop in early 2013 introduced me to the intricate world of mosaics. What started as a hobby of creating and gifting mosaic pieces to friends and family gradually transitioned into commercial work around 2016 with customized name plates. Drawing deeply from my upbringing in Pune surrounded by the calm, slow-paced, and detail-oriented Marathi culture, I developed a distinctive approach centered on love, care, and vibrant Indian aesthetics rather than modern minimalist trends.
The pivotal turning point arrived during the COVID-19 pandemic, which provided an unexpected window of time to step back, evaluate, and scale up. Faced with eye strain and medical advice to slow down, I made the conscious decision to phase out jewelry and fully concentrate on glass and mosaic art. This period of quiet introspection allowed for a dramatic improvement in my scale, quality, finesse, and detailing. Today, working primarily with imported glass and mixed media, I embrace the vast scalability and forgiving nature of mosaics, creating everything from wall installations and bottle lamps to large-scale public commissions while helping reclaim the artistic value of traditional craftsmanship.
